The National Industries for Severe Handicaps (NISH) is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to create employment opportunities for people with severe disabilities through the JWOD program. NISH works closely with our government customers and or associated agencies to provide technical assistance, engineering support and pricing recommendations on all JWOD contracts.
The Javits-Wagner-O’Day (JWOD) Program is a mandatory source program implemented through 41 CFR Chapter 51 and FAR Subpart 8.7. The federal government purchases products and services provided by a national network of more than 500 community-based nonprofit agencies that employ people who are blind or have other severe disabilities. Currently over 42,000 people with disabilities work or have worked on JWOD contracts.
Habilitative Systems, Inc. (HSI), a community based nonprofit organization has been awarded its’ first NISH contract in janitorial services to begin October 2005.
